Over a period of eighteen months, these collections were removed from their old existing site in central Birmingham to their new specially designed destination, Millennium Point. This entailed closed liaison and working with the HLF on funding issues and protocols, and curators and designers responsible for the new displays.
As the specialist project manager, Fraser Randall were appointed to manage and co-ordinate the process, cost and programming of the removal and conservation of the Museum of Science and Industry transport and social history collections.
This integrated process was carefully programmed to allow both sufficient timeframe for considered selection to be made by the content team, conservation issues to be identified and costed, and specialist conservators to be sourced, formally appointed and works to be completed.
