Fraser Randall were commissioned by Emaar Properties to undertake the cost management of three of the signature pavilions for Expo 2020. Appointed at Concept Design Stage, we worked alongside the shell and core QS and were responsible for costing all elements of the fit-out. We were cost managers throughout all stages of the project, including mid and end stage cost reports, giving procurement advice, producing pre-tender estimates and preparing the works tender packages. Much of the design was using cutting edge technology and fabrication and production methods and we sourced suppliers and tested the market diligently to ensure that estimates were robust. We were heavily involved in assisting and enabling the design team to deliver to budget by providing up to date and frequent cost reports and carrying out small-scale studies of certain elements of the design. Using our construction experience we were able to suggest alternate construction solutions to deliver the requirements of the brief without compromising the quality aspirations of the project team.

The works included all audio visual hardware, digital media, setworks, graphics, interactives, all thematic works and basebuild interfacing. Additionally we were requested to undertake Client Representative role and Contract Administration of the giant sculptures that were being produced in New Zealand,
relocating one of our team to carry out the role.
