The Mammals Galleries Phase 2 Mammals Hall Central area was the first project initiated as part of a long-term approach for the Mammals Hall. The ambition for Phase 1 was to make interventions through the Gallery Enhancement Programme to deal with short term issues and enhance the visitor experience. The works included the removal of specimens, M&E, setworks and display features from the central area, replacement of floor finishes, decoration of walls and ceiling, comprehensive birdcage scaffold for conservation access to suspended specimens, and the introduction of new setworks, lighting & electrics, showcases and graphics, with some works being integrated with existing setworks and interactive elements. The resulting gallery delivered improved circulation, improved access to the collections, improved overall visitor experience, and new interpretation content. Works were carried out whilst specimens and elements of existing setworks remained in the gallery space, with museum in-house teams holding an ongoing presence whilst works were being carried out.

Fraser Randall undertook the Cost Management, Contract Administration and CDM Principal Designer services.
