Michelangelo : The last decades
This thoughtful exhibition at the British Museum explored the final decades of Michelangelo’s life, a period marked by spiritual reflection, artistic innovation, and deeply personal expression. Through a selection of drawings, designs, poems, and letters, the exhibition offered rare insight into the artist’s inner world and the relationships that shaped his later years.
A highlight was Epifania, one of Michelangelo’s most striking works, on public display for the first time since conservation work began in 2018. The exhibition traced themes of mortality, devotion, and the enduring intensity of Michelangelo’s faith through his final creative expressions.
