Emergency Exits: The Fight for Independence in Malaya, Kenya and Cyprus.

News

We love working with the imperialwarmuseums so we are very excited to be embarking on another new project, as Cost Consultants for the Museum, for a new temporary exhibition coming this autumn, entitled Emergency Exits: The Fight for Independence in Malaya, Kenya and Cyprus. It runs from 17 October 2025 to 29 March 2026 and will focus on three significant conflicts – fought in Malaya (now Malaysia), Kenya and Cyprus, known by the British Government at the time as ‘Emergencies’, shedding light on the brutal and lasting impact on those involved.

As with so many world events, the exhibition will examine how the Second World War set the stage for these movements and how its end prompted millions across the empire to seek new futures. We’re particularly excited that the exhibition will be accompanied by a season of engaging events and activities, to offer a deeper understanding of the enduring legacies of these struggles still matters today.
