Upcoming exhibition: Hiroshige artist of the open road
Hiroshige artist of the open road
The @fraserrandall team is proud to be working on a major new exhibition at the @britishmuseum called Hiroshige: artist of the open road which opens on 1st May through to 7th September 2025. We are acting as Quantity Surveyor and CDM Advisor and learning a great deal about the Edo period of Japanese history, a period from 1603 to 1868, which was a time of significant change and development in Japan, but specifically the work and life of Utagawa Hiroshige (1797-1858), the Japanese print artist who rose to become one of Japan’s most talented, prolific and popular artists. His work – paintings, illustrated books, and above all prints – was appreciated at all levels of society, and he created a legacy that still influences and inspires artists today. It promises to be a landmark exhibition for such an influential artist renowned for his poetic vision and technical brilliance.
