First World War Galleries & Atrium Spaces
- Imperial War Museum
Opened to mark the centenary of the First World War, the First World War Galleries formed a key part of IWM London’s transformation. This regeneration project included a newly configured Atrium featuring iconic large object displays, along with new exhibitions, public spaces, shops, and cafes. As a once-in-a-century project, it was a landmark undertaking for the museum.
Fraser Randall was appointed as Exhibition Construction Manager, overseeing the detailed exhibition design phase through to construction completion.
Our Role
- Managed the exhibition design process, ensuring smooth transition from detailed design to completion.
- Integrated the display of large objects and terraces, curating key historical narratives.
- Worked closely with Foster + Partners to coordinate the basebuild and exhibition interfaces.
- Liaised with the basebuild contractor to resolve construction challenges efficiently.
- Delivered a highly prestigious, once-in-a-lifetime project, meeting exceptional quality standards.
