Leonardo, Experience a Masterpiece
- The National Gallery
To mark the 500th anniversary of Leonardo da Vinci’s death, the National Gallery invited visitors into the creative mind of a master. At the heart of this immersive exhibition was The Virgin of the Rocks, one of Leonardo’s most enigmatic works.
Through four distinct, experiential spaces, the exhibition revealed the artistic, scientific, and spiritual layers of the painting. Visitors moved from a projected landscape of Leonardo’s ideas, to a space of scientific discovery uncovering hidden compositions, to a dramatic exploration of light and shadow, before arriving at the painting itself, displayed as it may once have appeared in an imagined chapel setting.
Fraser Randall provided Project and Cost Management, working closely with the National Gallery and exhibition designers 59 Productions to support the development and delivery of this multi-sensory experience.
