The Bayeux Tapestry – The British Museum
For the first time since it was made nearly 1,000 years ago, the Bayeux Tapestry has returned to England. This extraordinary 70-metre embroidered artwork depicting the events leading to the Norman Conquest of 1066 is on display at the British Museum from September 2026 to July 2027. Displayed flat in one continuous run, the Bayeux Tapestry is shown alongside manuscripts, charters and coins that illustrate the Norman Conquest and its immediate aftermath.
